本鄉略成橢圓形，境內無山嶺丘陵，地形平垣，屬嘉南平原的一部份，農田棋布，惟受時轉變，工商業起飛，大小型工廠林立，深具都市發展潛力，故更雀屏中選為台南科學園區所在地。
